Zoom vs. Jitsi:
– Neither Zoom nor Jitsi are always end-to-end encrypted.
Always talk about pros and cons. Don't skip the drawbacks of so-called "alternatives."
The build quality is surprisingly good, not quite as good as Logitech – but still good.
There are a couple of downsides though: there's no "hyper" speed scrolling wheel, a feature I quite liked on the high-end Logitech mice; and there's no extra thumbrest button, which is handy for extra shortcuts.
It also only has a Micro-USB connector for charging, so in that regard it's more like the Logitech MX Master 2 than the newer Master 3.
I asked my work if I could get a larger mouse for working from home during #confinement, since I have fairly large hands. I was keen on one of the #logitech MX Master ones, but they were too expensive. Instead I found some weird other brand #rapoo, and got their MT750s for less than half the price.
I was sceptical at first, but it seems to work flawlessly with #linux! With both Bluetooth and USB. It even has a hardware DPI button, which actually works better than Logitech, in my experience.
Zoom meetings aren’t actually end-to-end encrypted, despite misleading marketing on their website, in their security white paper, and in the user interface in their app https://theintercept.com/2020/03/31/zoom-meeting-encryption/ by @yaelwrites and myself
This may be a stressful time for a lot of people - but - it is also the perfect time to sink your teeth into a project that can make life better for all.
Use this time to work on a project to safeguard #privacy, create #art to help others be happy and to think about something new, #write that book, create that #opensource website or work on social outreach methods during a #pandemic - whatever you can dream up.
THIS is the time.

I develop software and firmware, for embedded things and #linux, as well as a bit of #electronics too. I can do #c but much prefer #python and #micropython. I enjoy having a good rant about #privacy and #encryption, and my utopia is a world where we all develop and use #opensource software.
